The National Transit Institute, at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, promotes, develops, and delivers high quality programs and materials through cooperative partnerships with industry, government, institutions, and associations. The NTI serves as a catalyst for enhancing skills and performance in public transportation. DPI Conducted research and designed a training module on tools and techniques for asset management with emphasis in the use of technology.

With DPI NTI:

• Documented the benefits of using technology for asset management efforts such as integration of data and business processes, generation of automatic data, ability to record data in the field, and visualization tools to support analysis
• Provided best practices in using decision support tools for trade off analysis and executive decision making
• Conducted interviews with 5 transit agencies and documented challenges and barriers to asset management technology implementation and best practices in asset management implementation
